Silk Hope Celebrates Student-Athletes
On Tuesday, May 21st, Silk Hope celebrated the 2012-13 athletic season with a Sports Awards Ceremony in honor of all the athletes that participated throughout the school year. Mr. John Phillips, retired Jordan Matthews teacher/athletic director, provided words of advice to the the athletes and parents in attendance. Mr. Phillips gave the student-athletes "10 Maxims" to live by and encouraged the athletes to build good character and live life the right way. Mrs. Toomer said, "It was an exciting night to see student-athletes celebrated for their on and off the field performance this school year. The overwhelming parental and community support was evident with almost 200 in attendance."  Mr. Morgan was especially thankful to the coaches for their time and dedication, and the PTA for the financial support to make the athletic season a success.
